Rotary is an international organization made up of people who share a passion for and commitment to enhancing communities and improving lives across the globe.
The Rotaract Club of the College initiated its activities with Rotaract Office Bearers Installation 22nd of July 2016. The programme was inaugurated by the chief guest Rtn. PHF.R. Srinivasan accompanied by his team Rtn. T. Sathish, President, Rotary club of Adyar, Rtn. Vijayprabhu, Joint Secretary and Director Youth Service, Rtn. J. Anand Kumar Pandian, Director Club Service. The chief guest addressed the students and stressed the important duties and responsibilities of the badge holders. He applauded the management for encouraging the students to participate in service-oriented activities to contribute to society.
As part of extension activity, the Club organized a blood donation camp on the campus with the motto “Donate blood! Save lives”. Dr. Ahila Shivasankar, Dean, Extension Services coordinated the programme. It was organised on 22 July 2016 with the help of a team of medical technicians. The camp received a huge response and many students voluntarily donated blood for a noble cause. About 328 students of the College donated blood. The College sent 106 pints of blood collected to the Cancer Institute (WIA), 114 to Government Royapettah Hospital and 108 to Government Stanley Hospital. The event was successful in raising awareness among the students about blood donation in saving someone’s life. The donors were given certificate of participation by the Rotaract club.
The Rotract and Leo Clubs of the College jointly conducted an awareness programme on “Women’s Wellness” on 30 January 2017. The resource person Dr. Meenaloshini engaged the students with an interactive seminar. The students felt free to ask questions and clarify their doubts regarding health issues. The programme was successful benefitting all the women students who participated.
